| I got my XBox 360. Halo 3 is nice, and all, but Crackdown really is a fun game. So far I've only managed to kill the gang people who've gotten in my way of jumping from roof to roof to roof.
That never gets old.

| My vote is cast.
I pre-ordered one of those shiny new XBox 360 Elites on the weekend.
Of course, when the time comes I will get a PS3, but for now there are no decent games on the thing.

| I just received confirmation that my Wacken ticket shipped!
Hooray!
So happy right now.
Also, the best thing about finishing work at 0930 is opening a beer at 1000.

| Just not much happening.
I'm considering going to Wacken next year, and padding a week each side of the festival to see past exchange students / relatives / some more of Europe. Now all I need to do is some decent research into airline costs and such, and I'm just about sold on the idea. Despite my adoration of metal, I rarely get to go to concerts because there is no metal scene where I live. And although taking a trip to Brisbane to see one concert is OK, taking a trip to Europe to potentially see about forty concerts sounds just plain awesome.
Plus Iron Maiden will be there. And Avantasia. For those of you not familiar with the latter one (I assume you all know who the former is?) they're basically a supergroup of some of the German/Dutch melodic/power metal bands organised by the frontman for Edguy, Tobias Sammet. The albums are actually a continuous story, with each vocalist playing a separate part. All up I think there are close to thirty people involved. This would make for an interesting stage spectacle if they managed to get a full set of time to perform the whole thing from start to finish...
Iron Maiden! Avantasia!
At the moment I'm listening to a lot of the new Between The Buried And Me album, Colors. It has taken a few tries to fully appreciate it, but their music generally is like this. It's really calamitous, and all that will catch your attention on the first listen through is probably the overtly melodic parts. But, after an investment of a few more listens, it really begins to pay off and you start noticing all of the subtleties the band have included. I'm pretty sure I'll buy it with the next batch of CDs that I order from Amazon.
Also, the new Devin Townsend album Ziltoid The Omniscient is hilarious. It's about an alien (Ziltoid) who is the ultimate fourth dimensional guitar hero. He comes to Earth, wanting their finest coffee. No, I'm not making that up. Some things go awry with his plan, and the story takes some odd twists and turns here and there. The whole album is filled with Devin's standard amount of sarcasm, and then some.
Also, The DethAlbum is out shortly. That should be interesting. Gene Hoglan is drumming, so they were off to a great start already when that happened.
Work continues. Things are finally starting to stabilise with regards to the management, and we're also getting some improved equipment, which is always a plus.

| Well I finally finished off putting in the metal/hard rock-ish CDs.
It's currently at *insert drum roll here*:
644 entries. So that's currently 644 albums that I have in my listening collection.
Some random trivial things:
First CD in the database: A Perfect Circle's "Mer de Noms". Last CD in the database: Ivory Moon's "Human Nature". Longest album title in the database: Coheed And Cambria's "Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness". Earliest album in the database: Led Zeppelin's "Led Zeppelin". Number of Australian bands in the database: Four. Country from which I have the most albums: America (by at least 100 albums). Artist from which I have the most albums: Dream Theater (18 albums). Country/ies from which I have the least albums: It's a tie between Poland (Behemoth's "Pandemonic Incantations"), Denmark (Düreforsög's "Knee"), and the Czech Republic (Root's "Black Seal") with one album each. Number of albums that I actually own from this list: 140. Broad genres from which I have the most albums: Prog. Like that's a surprise. Wacky numbers and their corresponding album entry: 4 - A Perfect Circle's "Mer de Noms" (I think the database had a few false starts, or maybe the program just starts counting at 4...). 42 - Anathema's "Judgement". 69 - At The Drive-In's "In/Casino/Out". 100 - Biomechanical's "The Empires Of The Worlds". 500 - Paradise Lost's "Draconian Times".
So yeah... hopefully next time I have to format I won't have to burn so much bloody music now.
